What are Dermal Fillers & Injectables?

That, paired with the recent trend of influencers and celebrities sporting larger and poutier lips as a result of fillers, has led to a record number of people eager to get these cosmetic procedures. With no downtime and practically instant results, it’s no wonder dermal fillers and injectables are so popular.
How Do Dermal Fillers & Injectables Work?
Dermal fillers and injectables are minimally invasive cosmetic treatments where gel-like substances are injected below the skin for a variety of cosmetic reasons. These procedures are commonly used to increase facial volume or minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The result is a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance. Injectables can also be focused on one area of the face to target a specific issue, such as eyelids, “crow’s feet,” brow, lips, and cheeks.

Botox®
Botox® is an injectable treatment that is used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles primarily in and around the forehead, eye, and mouth areas. The Botox® formula is made up of a substance called botulinum toxin, which blocks nerve signals to the muscles of the face that cause wrinkles. As a result, the wrinkles will begin to soften and will appear diminished.
Dysport®
Dysport® is an injectable treatment, similar to Botox®. The Dysport® formula works by relaxing muscles, similar to Botox®, preventing them from contracting and forming wrinkles.
Dermal Fillers
Juvéderm®
Juvéderm® is a family of dermal filler products that typically contain hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally produced by your body found in the skin, connective tissues, and eyes. It has binding agents that keep tissues moist and retains hydration throughout the body. Juvéderm® fills in lines and wrinkles to create a more youthful, natural look. There are several Juvéderm® products available, each designed for a specific cosmetic concern. Results from these products typically last between six months and two years.
Restylane®
Restylane® is a family of dermal filler products which are overall similar to Juvederm®.
